Surveyors play an important role in the construction industry and have played an important role in architectural history for generations. When the Egyptians built the pyramids, someone had to lay out the straight and square lines prior to breaking ground. And Thomas Jefferson, Abraham Lincoln, and George Washington were all surveyors who plotted the destiny of the U.S.
On any jobsite, surveyors are the ones who initiate the start of a build and provide as-builts to conclude the project. This year, National Surveyors Week runs from March 19-25, and Global Surveyors Day was on March 21. We’re excited to celebrate this national week and the important role all surveyors play.
How can you commemorate National Surveyors Week this year? If you’re not a surveyor, learn about what a surveyor does and the different surveying careers that exist within the industry. If you’re a surveyor, share your experiences with someone who is unfamiliar with the profession and what exactly a surveyor does. Consider speaking to a school class or community group about what surveying is.
Since the beginning of recorded history, surveying has played a role in advancing civilization. At Meridian Geomatics LLC, our surveying company is proud to have several great surveyors on staff, and we appreciate the hard work and knowledge they put into this important profession.
